Young Owls Continue to Show Growth at NWMSU Invitational

MARYVILLE, Mo. - William Woods track and field programs kicked off the 2026 stint of their indoor season at NCAA DII Northwest Missouri State University at the Coach Alsup Invitational. The Owls, competing in their second indoor meet this season after a visit to the SIU Fast Start in December, earned a few PRs in the contest putting up solid numbers in the meet.

Woods saw PRs from Jack Garret (400m), Blaine Brodersen (1k, placing three seconds of NAIA 'B' Standard), Jenson Starr (1 mile), Kyle Hagemeyer (1 mile), Sean Wigger (1 mile), and Justus Yates (1 mile). Ethan Wilson ran a blazing 1:56.76, placing 10th in the 800 adding another strong showing for a young Owls team.

Rounding out the meet with the men's 4x400 race, a team of Jack Garrett, Charlie Alderton, Gabe Soest, and Tyler Grimes ran a time of 3:35.39 placing 16th.

On the women's side the speed of Madison Dixon and Jesse Gresham continue to impress, setting the pace for the women's team.

William Woods Track and Field are back in action next weekend at the Monmouth College Invitational.
