Box Score CRETE, NEB. – The William Woods University Men's Soccer team captured their first win of the season Friday afternoon as they defeated Doane College 2-0. Zachary Baliva and Logan Christopher scored the only goals in the contest.

The Owls opened the first half ready to attack. Four minutes into the contest John Buerge attempted the first shot for WWU, but it was blocked by the Doane goalkeeper. Seconds later Darren Wilson attempted another shot for William Woods but it was blocked once again. After two quick shots on goal from the Owls, Billy Nzojyibwami attempted the third shot for WWU but it would miss wide.

Finally, after 16-minutes of action, Baliva broke free and found the back of the net giving WWU a 1-0 lead.

After an aggressive start from the Owls, Doane College's Andreus Abner attempted the first shot for the Tigers but it would miss wide of the goal.

The Owls held the Tigers to one shot in the first half and would go into halftime ahead 1-0.

After a quick first half start, Logan was able to break free and score the second goal of the game and give William Woods a 2-0 lead over the Tigers. They would look to push the lead to 3-0 on Roberto Duro-Sanchez shot, but it would miss wide of the goal.

WWU continued to attack but could not connect on any other shot attempts. Doane College made an effort to put a goal on the board, but was unsuccessful against the Owl defense.

William Woods went on to capture a 2-0 victory over Doane.

William Woods returns to action Sunday Sept. 9^th as they head to Hastings, Neb. To face No.15 Hastings College. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
