WWU Women's Soccer Falls 1-7 to RV Central Methodist

FAYETTE, Mo. – The William Woods women's soccer team fell to Central Methodist, 7-1 in Saturday afternoon's game. The Owls are 1-5 on the season.
 
The Owls will return to Firley Field at 5 p.m. on September 17 to host Lindenwood-Belleville.
 
Game Flow
Goalkeeper Arianna Meikel made a save right away, just four minutes into the game.
 
Six minutes into the first half, the Eagles were able to connect on their next shot attempt with a goal from Zoe Jessen, which gave CMU a 1-0 lead.
 
Nely Martinez gave the Eagles their second goal of the night with 14 minutes into the game. This would be CMU's last goal of the half, 2-0.
 
Tayler LePage took a shot, but ended up in the hands of goalkeeper, Sheila Sanchez.
 
CMU took 10 shots the first half, while WWU recorded one shot. The Eagles went into the half with a 2-0 lead.
 
With 49 minutes on the clock, CMU's Judith Sanchez would record her first goal of the night, 3-0. Just over a minute later, Sanchez was able to find the back of the net with another goal which gave the Eagles a 4-0 advantage.
 
Sanchez was not done yet, as she connected again giving CMU a 5-0 lead with 53 minutes on the clock.
 
Alexi Willingham attempted a shot, but was saved by Shelia Sanchez, 54:55.
 
The Eagles would score again with a goal from Joana Villanova, 6-0.
 
The Owls were able to score their only goal of the night in fashion, with an assist by Aurora Henriksen and a header from Tayler LePage, 6-1.
The Eagles scored their final goal of the game recorded by Villanova, 7-1.
 
The Owls took five shots while the Eagles documented 23 on the night.
