FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods women's soccer team was defeated by Columbia College, 4-0, in the AMC Game of the Week this evening. The Owls are 2-7 on the season and 1-2 in the AMC.

The Owls return to action against Stephens College on September 28 at 1 p.m. at the home of the Stars.
 
Game Flow
The Cougars were out and running one minute into the game with a shot attempt by Jewel Morelan, but was blocked by Rosemary Lenz.
 
Four minutes into the game, Alexis Willingham and Tayler LePage each recorded shot attempts. Willingham's shot was saved by the Cougars goalkeeper, Kate Marshall, while LePage's shot went just wide.
 
The Cougars made three-straight shot attempts, but all of them went wide as the 14 minute mark approached.
 
22 minutes into the game, Columbia was finally able to get on the board with a goal from Elisa Vega, 1-0.
 
Michyla Handley was able to make her second save of the game with 31 minutes on the clock.
 
Jewel Morelan connected on a ball which gave the Cougars a 2-0 advantage.
 
Handley made four more saves during the first half.
 
Brianna Morrow attempted a shot, but was denied by Marshall.
 
Going into halftime, the Cougars led, 2-0.
 
The first goal attempt of the second period was successful by Kelsey Mirts, giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead with 61 minutes on the clock.
 LePage attempted another shot, but would miss wide.
 
With 69 minutes on the clock, Reese Hamilton secured the final goal for the Cougars, 4-0.
 
Columbia recorded one more shot attempt, but there was no other action that occurred the rest of the second period.
 
The Cougars went on to shutout the Owls, 4-0
