Gerald Sets Career Steals Record in Win Over STLCOP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Senior guard Kaycee Gerald broke the William Woods University steals record in Saturday's 66-51 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Gerald, beating out a 28-year-old record, now has 281 career steals. The record was previously held by Patty Wilderman with 278.
 
The Owls move to 16-4 with their eighth straight win, bringing them to 10-4 in conference play. 
 
The team returns home for a game versus Columbia College on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m. The Association of Student-Athletes (ASA) will host their first of two American Red Cross Fundraisers at the game.

281 – Kaycee Gerald becomes the career steals record holder with 281 steals. She is also just five steals away from the season record.
21 – Gerald scored a floor-high 21 points en route to her 20th career double-double.
13 – Ashleigh Frampton added 13 points to the win.
11 – Gerald pulled down 11 boards with eight coming from the defensive end. 
6 – Kasey Hazell and Gerald dished in six assists each.

STLCOP took a five-point lead to start the game. After they had a 7-3 lead, the Owls powered a 9-0 run to take a five-point lead with 2:09 on the clock, 12-7.
 
The Owls ended the half with a three-point lead, 14-11.
 
STLCOP knotted the game to start the second quarter, but with four consecutive buckets by four different Owls, the team went up by nine with just over five minutes to play, 24-15.
 
Once again, STLCOP cut the game back to one, but a short jumper from Kasey Hazell and two free throws from Kaycee Gerald gave the Owls a five-point lead heading into halftime, 29-24.
 
Ashleigh Frampton drained a three to start the second half, giving the Owls an eight-point lead, 32-24.
 
Starting with 7:33 on the clock, Peyton Greenlee hit a long jumper to spark a 7-0 run. The Owls led by 11 with 2:52 on the clock. 
 
STLCOP answered with an 8-2 run to cut the game to five. 
 
Hazell completed a traditional three-point play to put the Owls back up by eight, but STLCOP hit a three just before the buzzer to send the game into the final quarter with the Owls up 45-40.
 
STLCOP cut the game to two just two minutes into the fourth.
 
Gerald broke the Owls' three minutes of silence with a three to put them back up by five, and Hazell, Greenlee and Gerald combined for a 13-0 run to take a 15-point lead with 3:30 to play, 60-45.
 
A short jumper by Gerald gave the Owls a 16-point lead with 1:50 on the clock, their largest of the game. 
 
Hazell scored the final point of the game of a free throw with 1:15 on the clock to complete the 66-51 win.
