Owls on Fire in Win Over Lindenwood-Belleville

FULTON, Mo. – With a 60.4 shooting percentage through 40 minutes of play, the William Woods University men's basketball team topped Lindenwood University-Belleville Saturday afternoon, 81-75. The Owls move to 10-12 overall with a 6-9 conference mark.
 
Makenzie Fessler posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Darius Yohe was nearly unstoppable under the basket as he missed just one of his 13 shots taken.
 
The Owls continue their four-game home stretch on Thursday, Feb. 6, with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off versus Central Baptist College.

Game Flow
LUB jumped out to a 13-point lead just under eight minutes into the game, 21-8. 
 
Codi Whitlock scored eight of the Owls' 9-0 run spanning three minutes to cut the game to one with 6:15 on the clock, 27-26.
 
LUB pushed back out by four, but free throws from Tyriel Nelson and a bucket from Darius Yohe evened the score at 30-30 with 3:46 to play.
 
Nelson hit a three with 1:52 on the clock to give the Owls their first lead in over 15 minutes. LUB took the lead back with a two, but Nelson once again scored to flip the lead again.
 
Yohe made a fast break dunk to end the half tied 39 all.
 
Makenzie Fessler hit a short jumper to start an 11-0 run after LUB went up by four two minutes into the second half. The Owls sat with a seven-point lead with 15:32 remaining in the game.
 
LUB dwindled the Owls' lead and evened the score with 13:03 on the clock. They took a one-point lead, but Ian Hodges countered with a long jumper to take back the lead. 
 
The lead flipped four more times before the Owls grabbed hold and kept it. Yohe scored back-to-back points to give the Owls a three-point lead with 6:46 on the clock, 67-64.
 
LUB cut the game to one with 4:44 on the board following a fast break layup, 71-70.
 
A free throw by Matt Burgess and a bucket from Yohe gave the Owls a four-point lead. With 2:46 on the clock, Yohe, Fessler and Burgess combined for five points to take an eight-point lead.
 
LUB scored the final points of the game with 25 seconds on the clock to end the game, 81-75.
