Ten Straight! Gerald Breaks Season Steals Record

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team won their tenth straight game and remain undefeated in front of their home crowd with Saturday's 64-55 win over Lindenwood University-Belleville. The Owls move to 18-4 on the season with a 12-4 conference mark. 
 
On the heels of breaking the WWU career steals record, senior Kaycee Gerald broke the WWU season steals record.
 
The Owls continue their four-game home stretch on Thursday, Feb. 6, with a 5:30 p.m. game versus Central Baptist College.
 
By The Numbers
92 – Kaycee Gerald now holds 92 season steals, breaking the 11-year-old WWU record. 
53.8 – The Owls shot 53.8 percent from the field in the first half. 
21 – Rylie Cox scored a career-high 21 points (7-for-13 FG, 5-for-8 FT). 
14 – Gerald added 14 points to the win.
12 – Ashleigh Frampton went 5-for-9 from the field for 12 points.
8 – Peyton Greenlee and Kasey Hazell pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
4 – Gerald dished in a floor-high four assists, and Greenlee grabbed a floor-high four steals.
 
Game Flow
Rylie Cox scored first for the Owls after LUB took a 4-0 lead to start the game. After Cox hit a three to tie the game three minutes in, Jazlyn Drake made a bucket down low to take the Owls' first lead. 
 
A jumper from Kasey Hazell halfway through the quarter gave the Owls a four-point lead, but LUB evened the score following two free throws with 3:41 on the clock. 
 
The two teams evened the score twice more, but a good free throw from Cox sent the Owls into the second quarter with a 14-13 lead.
 
Coming into the second quarter, the Owls bombarded LUB with a 9-0 run to take up a 10-point lead just over three minutes in, 23-13. LUB finally scored with 6:28 on the clock, but a jumper from Cox put the Owls back up by nine. LUB brought the score within six with 2:43 on the clock.
 
The Owls ended the half with a 7-2 run, heading into halftime with an 11-point lead, 35-24. The Owls outscored LUB 21-11 in the second.
 
LUB held WWU from scoring until over halfway through the third quarter while putting up nine unanswered points to bring the game to 35-33.
 
Kaycee Gerald broke the Owls' silence with a traditional three-point play, giving the Owls a five-point lead, 38-33. 
 
LUB managed to take their first lead since the first quarter, but the Owls evened the score each time. 
 
After three ties, Gerald went 2-for-2 from the foul line to give the Owls a two-point lead. Cox gave the Owls one more point before heading into the fourth quarter, 46-43.
 
With five points to start the final quarter, the Owls took an eight-point lead, 51-43. 
 
LUB brought the game within four three times, but with 2:55 on the clock, Cox hit a layup to put the Owls up by six. Hazell followed with a jumper in the paint to give the Owls an eight-point lead with 2:18 to play. 
 
LUB scored one on a free throw with just under two minutes on the clock, but the Owls held them from scoring again. 
 
Peyton Greenlee scored the final points of the game to give the Owls their 10th consecutive win, 64-55.
