Owls Drop to Harris-Stowe

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – On the heels of two upsets over ranked opponents, the William Woods University men's basketball team dropped to Harris-Stowe State University Thursday evening, 82-72.
 
Makenzie Fessler posted his fourth consecutive double-double with his 15-point, 15-rebound performance. 
 
The Owls will host Missouri Baptist University for their final weekend home game on Saturday, Feb. 15. The team will honor the two seniors immediately following the women's game, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tip-off for the men will be at 3 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
44.3 – The Owls shot 44.3 percent from the field. 
19 – Darius Yohe scored a team-high 19 points while going 9-for-12 from the field. 
15 – Makenzie Fessler posted 15 points and 15 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double. Ten of his rebounds were from the defensive end. 
8 – Yohe pulled down eight boards.
5 – Fessler added five assists to his stat line.
 
Game Flow
Tyriel Nelson hit a jumper on the Owls second possession to tie the game for the first and only time, but HSSU followed with a 7-0 run to take up a 9-2 lead. 
 
A good jumper from Makenzie Fessler brought the Owls within four with 12:52 on the clock, 14-10, but HSSU pushed back out by eight.
 
A three from Fessler followed by a jumper from Mike Robinson brought the Owls within two with 8:48 to play, 20-18. 
 
HSSU pushed back out by six, but Codi Whitlock went 2-for-2 from the foul line and Nelson hit another jumper to bring the Owls back within two with 7:11 on the clock, 24-22.
 
HSSU followed with a 12-0 run to go up by 14 with 4:29 on the clock, 36-22.
 
The Owls answered with an 8-1 run to cut the game to seven with under two minutes to play, 37-30. HSSU scored the final points of the half, sending the game into halftime with WWU trailing 39-30.
 
HSSU blasted a 9-0 run to start the second half, pushing an 18-point lead just two minutes in. HSSU brought their lead to 21 points with 13:04 on the clock. 
 
With 7:11 on the board, Codi Whitlock was fouled on his good basket. He followed up his and-one with a block on the next play. Treshawn Gause then made a bucket, cutting the game to 13. 
 
Whitlock once again had his hand in getting the Owls' next possession as he pulled down the defensive rebound to help aid in Fessler's basket, cutting the game to 11 with 6:23 to play, 68-57.
 
HSSU answered by pushing their lead back to 17.
 
The Owls once again cut the game back to 11 with a three from D'Aaron Owens with just over a minute to play.
 
Ian Hodges hit the final points of the game off a three to bring the final score to 82-72.
