Owls Breeze Past Park

FULTON, Mo. – The RV William Woods University women's basketball team breezed past Park University Tuesday evening, 89-56. The Owls move to 22-5 on the season with a 16-5 conference mark.
 
The Owls sit in fourth place in the AMC behind No. 11 Lyon, No. 12 Freed-Hardeman and No. 15 Columbia.
 
The Owls travel to Freed-Hardeman on Feb. 20 for a Thursday evening game starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Owls took a five-point lead to start the game while holding Park scoreless through the first 2:38.
 
Park knocked the game to one following back-to-back buckets.
 
The Owls responded with a 14-0 run over 4 ½ minutes with three three-pointers from Peyton Greenlee to take up a 15-point lead.
 
Park hit a three with just under a minute to play, but Carleigh Jenkins and Rylie Cox scored back-to-back buckets to put the Owls up by 16 heading into the second quarter, 25-9.
 
The Owls shot 69.2 percent from the field in the first quarter (9-for-13).
 
The Owls extended their lead to 20 following a three-point play from Jazlyn Drake, 32-12.
 
Kasey Hazell made all three free throws and a down-low jumper to bring the Owls to a 41-16 lead with 3:31 on the clock.
 
The Owls grabbed a 28-point lead, their largest of the half, with two good free throws from Kaycee Gerald with 2:13 to play. The team headed into halftime with a 26-point lead, 49-23.

Midway through the third quarter, the Owls pushed a 10-0 run to give them a 39-point lead with 2:15 on the clock. 

Park scored the final points of the quarter to send the game into the fourth with the Owls leading 74-38.

The Owls continued to hold 30-point lead. With 3:26 to play, Park brought the game within 29 points with 3:26 on the clock, but Tori Nesslage scored seven consecutive to take up a 36-point lead with 46 seconds to play. 

Park scored the final points of the game on a three to end the game with an 89-56 win.
