No. 22 Lyon Outdoes Owls in Fourth Quarter

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The William Woods University women's basketball team was outdone 24-7 in the final 14 minutes of the game at No. 22 Lyon College to lose 56-47. The Owls' loss drops them to 1-4 on the season.
 
The Owls next face Central Baptist College on the road on Monday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m.

11 – Amaya Keeling and Jheda Kennedy put up 11 points.

Game Flow
The Owls tied up the game three times after Lyon scored the first points. A three from Jheda Kennedy following Tori Nesslage's steal put the Owls up for the first time with 3:20 left on the clock, 10-9. Lyon took back the lead, and the lead bounced back-and-forth five times before the end of the quarter. Lyon made a last second three to take a two-point lead heading into the second quarter, 16-14.
 
The Owls blasted a 14-0 run in a four-minute span to take up a nine-point lead with 1:22 left in the second quarter, 30-21. Lyon closed out the half by scoring five to send the game into halftime with the Owls up 30-26.
 
The Owls scored first in the second half with a jumper from Arriyonn Phillips. Lyon countered each point from the Owls, but a three from Amaya Keeling put the Owls up by seven with 6:36 on the clock, 37-30. Keeling hit a three again to give the Owls an eight-point lead with 3:59 left in the third quarter, 40-32. Lyon closed out the quarter with a 9-2 run to send the game into the final quarter with the Owls up by one, 42-41.
 
The Owls were outscored 15-5 in the final quarter, 24-7 in the final 14 minutes of the game, to fall 56-47.
