FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods men's basketball team breezed past Harris-Stowe State University Saturday afternoon for their first win of the season, 89-72. The Owls are now 1-3 on the season with a 1-1 conference record.
The Owls had three score 15+ points.
Tyriel Nelson put up a team-high 17 points while shooting 66.6% from the field.
Andrew Nett and
Spencer Yoggerst each put up 15 points. Yoggerst shot 70% from the field, and Nett shot 50% from the three-point line.
The Owls next head to St. Louis, Mo., for a 7:30 p.m. game at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Game Flow
Darius Yohe scored on the first possession to put the Owls up. HSSU tied the game up twice and took the lead once two minutes in, but
Spencer Yoggerst scored on a drive to put the Owls back up by one with 16:16 on the clock.
He followed with a two, and
Andrew Nett drained a three to put the Owls up by six five minutes in, 14-8. HSSU cut the game to two with 13:41 on the clock, but the Owls quickly scored seven to take up a nine-point lead, 26-17.
A two from Yoggerst gave the Owls their first double digit lead with 12:12 on the clock, 28-18, but HSSU cut the game to four halfway through the first half.
In the final 3:16 of the first half, the Owls outscored HSSU 13-2 to take a 19-point lead heading into the break, 52-33.
A three by Nett gave the Owls a 21-point lead early in the second half, 57-36. The Owls maintained a 20+ point lead throughout the second half. A three by
Matt Burgess put the Owls up by 25 for the Owls' largest lead of the half, 87-62.
HSSU scored the final eight points of the game to close it out with an 89-72 Owls' win.
