FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's volleyball team traveled just blocks down the road to face off with crosstown neighbor NCAA Division III Westminster College (Mo.). The Owls recorded their fourth straight sweep with Wednesday's 3-0 win, moving to 15-7 on the season.
The Owls won 27-25, 25-17, 25-19.
The team jumps back into conference play as they host University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.

The Owls jumped out to a 5-1 lead to start the match following kills from
Riley Alton and
Lanie Lowry and three WC attack errors. The Owls continued to hold a possessive lead, but midway through the set WC managed to close the gap, and with a 5-1 WC run, the Owls lost the lead. With the Owls down 22-21, a WC service error followed by back-to-back kills from
Kassidy Phillips put the Owls at set point, 24-22. WC took the lead with a 3-0 run, but Phillips put down two more kills to again bring the Owls to set point, 26-25. A WC attack error ended the set with a 27-25 win.

Hannah Kuehl gave the Owls a 5-2 lead to start set two. A kill from Kuehl followed by back-to-back aces from her jump started an Owls' 7-0 run to take a 13-5 lead. Midway through the set WC once again worked to close the gap, bringing the set within two points, 18-16. Following a timeout, the Owls pushed a 5-0 run with two kills from Alton, a kill from Kuehl and two WC errors, 23-16. Kuehl put down two kills to end the set with a 25-17 win.
WC took hold of the lead early in set three, and it wasn't until a 3-0 run that the Owls finally evened the score, 9-9. The two teams went back-and-forth over the next few points until Kuehl smashed down a kill and followed with an ace to give the Owls a 15-13 lead. The Owls managed to stay one step ahead, and a kill from Alton followed by two aces from
Emily Greif started a 5-0 run to bring the Owls within match point, 24-18. A WC kill halted the Owls' win, but Kuehl put down her 11
th kill of the match to grab the 25-19 set three win for the match.
