MEXICO, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team hosted Central Baptist College at the Mexico High School soccer field Saturday afternoon. The Owls grabbed a 5-0 win, improving their record to 7-4-1 with a 3-2 conference mark.
Hannah Loethen opened the scoring with a header goal on
Abby Wilson's assist to give the Owls a 1-0 lead just seven minutes in.
Sydney Balducci scored the second goal in the 20
th minute off
Wilson Hornsby's cross, and in the 35
th minute,
Mackenzie Boyle scored off Loethen's cross.
Balducci scored her second goal and the final goal of the half with a header off
Taylor Amlong's corner to give the Owls a 4-0 lead.
Abbie Gilblair scored the lone goal of the second half off
Rosemary Lenz's cross from the right side of the field in the 85
th minute to give the Owls a 5-0 win.
Michyla Handley (2-2) grabbed her second win of the season in goal. She made two stops in the 90 minutes between the posts.
The Owls outshot CBC 33-3 with 16 shots on goal.
The Owls next host Stephens College on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m.
