HANNIBAL, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team had their winning streak come to an end following their 3-1 loss at Hannibal-LaGrange Saturday afternoon. The Owls fall to 16-8 on the season with a 3-2 conference mark.
The Owls lost 25-21, 22-25, 18-25, 19-25.
The Owls return home for a 7 p.m. match versus Central Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 28.

Match Highlights
The Owls and HLGU battled back-and-forth throughout set one. With the Owls down by one late in the set,
Kassidy Phillips put down a kill to begin a 4-0 run to take a 23-20 lead. Following a WWU service error,
Hannah Kuehl put down a kill to bring the Owls to set point, 24-21. A HLGU attack error gave the Owls a 25-21 set one win.
HLGU jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start set two, but three consecutive kills from
Lanie Lowry closed the gap to one, 8-7. HLGU held onto the lead until a kill from
Lauren Adams jump started a 5-0 run to give the Owls a two-point lead, 20-18.
Reanna Dodge had two kills in the run,
Alli Gueck had an ace, and Adams had a block. HLGU responded with a 4-0 run to go back up by two, 22-20. Two HLGU errors evened the score, but they ended the set with a 3-0 run, 25-22.
The Owls went up 10-5 to start set three, but a 5-0 HLGU run gave them a one-point lead, 12-11. The two teams traded the lead over the next few points, but another 5-0 HLGU run put them up 23-17. They went on to win 25-18.
The Owls held an early 3-2 lead, and extended their lead to 5-3 following Dodge's kill. HLGU took the lead and extended it to five points, 13-8. Back-to-back kills from Phillips and Kuehl brought the Owls within three, but HLGU answered with a 3-0 run to go up by six, 16-10. Three consecutive kills from Lowry, Adams and Phillips brought the Owls within three later in the set, 19-16, but HLGU closed out the match with a 6-3 run to win it 25-19.
