Volleyball Sweeps Central Baptist

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team swept Central Baptist College Thursday evening, 3-0. The win brings the Owls to 17-8 on the season with a 4-2 conference mark.
 
The Owls won 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
 
Next up for the Owls is a conference match-up at Williams Baptist University on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m.

Match Highlights
The Owls blasted a 9-2 run early in the match to take a 10-5 lead. A few points later, Hannah Kuehl smashed down five consecutive kills to give the Owls a 17-8 lead. Following a CBC timeout, CBC scored three to cut the game to seven, 20-13, but a kill from Lanie Lowry ended their run. A kill from Riley Alton brought the Owls to set point, and after CBC scored two more, Alton put down another kill to win the set 25-18.
 
After a back-and-forth beginning to set two, a kill from Lowry jump started a 13-2 run to take a 23-11 lead. Lowry recorded four of the five kills in the Owls' start to the run. A kill from Kuehl ended the set with a 25-13 win.
 
CBC stayed one step ahead to start set three, but three consecutive CBC errors gave the Owls an 8-7 lead. CBC once again went up, but three more CBC errors gave the Owls a 13-11 lead. Back-to-back-to-back kills from Kuehl, Tess Schannuth and Lowry put the Owls up 20-16, and another kill from Schannuth on a dump followed by a block from Kassidy Phillips and Schannuth gave the Owls a 22-18 lead. Alli Gueck closed out the set with two aces to win the match 25-19.
