OSKALOOSA, Iowa – The William Woods University men's basketball team held the lead at the end of the first half against No. 4 William Penn University Saturday evening, but a defeating second half ended the game with a 94-70 loss. The Owls fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Owls return home for a non-conference game versus Iowa Wesleyan University on Friday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m.

The Owls took a three-point lead after two minutes of play with back-to-back threes from
Mike Robinson and
Nathan Schwartze, 6-3. WPU then took a three-point lead, but a three from Schwartze put the Owls back on top with 13:29 on the clock, 17-14.
A three from
Makenzie Fessler followed by an in-the-paint shot from
Jared Crutcher gave the Owls a five-point lead, and a shot from behind the arc from
Andrew Nett gave the Owls a seven-point advantage halfway through the first half, 25-18.
WPU cut the game to two over the next minute, but a layup from
Spencer Yoggerst followed by a
Darius Yohe dunk put the Owls back up by six with 6:32 to play.
Back-to-back jumpers from
Karter Koenig and Crutcher gave the Owls an eight-point lead with just over two minutes to play, but WPU closed out the half by cutting the game to four, 44-40.
WPU came out in the second half with a 10-2 run to take up a four-point lead, 50-46. A layup from Koenig stopped the run, but WPU followed with an 8-0 run, going up by 10 with 13:27 on the clock, 58-48.
WPU extended their lead to 21 with 5:50 to play.
A three from Schwartze followed by two good free throws from Fessler brought the Owls deficit to 15 with 3:52 to play, 80-65.
WPU scored the final six points of the game to end it with a 94-70 Owls' loss.
