FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team bounced back from a close set one loss to Avila University to win their regular season finale, 3-1. The win brings the Owls to 20-9 on the season heading into postseason.
The Owls enter the American Midwest Conference Championship as the four seed. They will host Stephens College on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.
The winner will head to Missouri Baptist for the semifinal and final round of the AMC Championship starting on Friday, Nov. 12.

Match Highlights
After a back-and-forth start to the match, Avila took up a five-point lead following a 4-0 run. The Owls answered with a 6-1 run with kills from four players and an ace from
Emily Greif to even the score, 15-15. A 6-0 Avila run brought Avila to set point, and despite the Owls pushing a 5-0 run to close the gap to two, Avila ended the set with a 25-22 win.
The Owls strung together a 7-2 run midway through set two to take an 18-15 lead.
Hannah Kuehl played a part in three points,
Lanie Lowry played a part in two, and
Alli Gueck recorded an ace. A 6-1 run from the Owls featuring five Avila errors and a kill from
Baylie Petry brought the Owls to set point, 24-19. Avila scored the next three, but a kill from Kuehl ended the set with a 25-22 Owls' win.
The Owls pieced together a 12-2 run midway through set three to take a dominating 22-11 lead. Petry and Kuehl put down two kills, Greif served two aces and
Tess Schannuth recorded a kill. In the second half of the run, Avila committed five errors. Avila answered with a 5-0 run, but a kill from
Kassidy Phillips brought the Owls to set point, and a kill from Petry ended the set with a 25-18 win.
After a slow beginning for the Owls, the team ignited a 7-0 run with two kills from Lowry, an ace from Gueck, a kill from Phillips and a block from Lowry and Phillips. After a 4-0 Avila run, the Owls called a timeout. Coming out from the timeout, the Owls scored the next three. A block from Petry and Kuehl ended the match with a 25-18 set four win.
