VERSAILLES, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team grabbed a 6-3 win over Olivet Nazarene University Friday morning for their first win of the season. They are now 1-1 on the season.
 
The team continues in the CMU Series on Sunday with a doubleheader versus host Central Methodist University. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
 
Game Notes

• Isaiah Gibbs went 2-3 from the plate with a double, a run scored and two RBI.
• The Owls finished with nine hits.
• Jordan Smith and Marcus Gonzalez also grabbed two hits at the plate.
• Easton Wallace hit a home run.
• Brock Glavey (1-0) pitched 5.1 innings and grabbed the win.
• Andrew Fyffe (1) earned the save. He pitched 0.2 innings.

 
Game Flow
The Owls put up four runs in the bottom of the inning. Jordan Smith led off the inning with a single, and Marcus Gonzalez followed with a single of his own. Following an out, Zach Krause hit an RBI single to left field, plating Smith in the process. Isaiah Gibbs then smacked a two RBI double to left field to give the Owls a 3-0 lead. Gibbs plated the fourth and final run of the inning on Kamron Morriss' RBI single to left field. 
 
The Owls added a fifth run in the bottom of the second on an error, and in the bottom of the fourth, Easton Wallace hit a two-out home run over the center field fence to take a 6-0 lead. 
 
ONU plated their first run of the game in the fifth on an RBI ground out. In the top of the sixth, ONU scored two more on two solo home runs to cut the game to three, 6-3.
