BATESVILLE, Ark. - The William Woods University women's soccer team grabbed their seventh victory in a row as they defeated Lyon College 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Owls are currently undefeated in conference play with a 7-0 record and are 7-1 overall.
After two unsuccessful shots on goal,
Abby Prather-Turner found the back of the net on a penalty kick grabbing the lead for the Owls, 1-0.
With the clock hitting the 23
rd minute mark, a cross in the box from
Cindy Gonzalez to
Lauren Helmert found its way to the back of the net, extending the lead to 2-0.
Sydney Balducci scored the third goal for the Owls with the assist from
Lauren Helmert with 38:53 on the clock, 3-0.
The Lyons were not able to score on the first half.
In the beginning of the second period, Lyon scored the only goal of the second period with a penalty kick to bring the game to 3-1.
The Owls outshot Lyon, 23-11.
Michyla Handley (3-0) recorded four saves in her 90 minutes between the posts.
The Owls return to action Tuesday, Mar. 23, at 6:00 p.m. against no. 17 Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.
