CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University softball team dropped two games to Central Baptist College Saturday afternoon. The Owls fell 5-1 in game one and lost game two 8-1.
The Owls fall to 6-10 on the season with a 1-3 conference mark.
The team next hosts University of St. Francis (Ill.) for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 29.
Game One
CBC plated two runs in the first inning and added a third with a home run in the bottom of the second. They added two more runs through the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-0 lead.
The Owls scored their only run of game one in the top of the seventh on
Mallory Feldewerth's double down the left field line to score
Mia Santos.
Alexis Hassler (5-3) pitched the complete game. She struck out two.
Hassler and Santos each recorded two hits.
Game Two
CBC took a 1-0 lead in game two with a RBI single in the first inning.
Woods evened the score in the second on a RBI single to left field from
Emma Taylor to score
Hanna Knipp.
CBC plated five in the third and two in the sixth to grab an 8-1 win.
Kalee Wall (1-3) pitched the complete game. She struck out one.
Lindy Wilson recorded two hits.
