FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team split with Cottey College (Mo.) Friday afternoon. The Owls lost game one and won game two. WWU moves to 7-13 on the season.
The Owls will face Lincoln College (Ill.) tomorrow for senior day. Activities start at 11:45 a.m.
Game 1:
The Owls were only able to bat one run in the first game loss.
Cottey College took the lead with scoring in the third inning.
Owls'
Hanna Knipp would score at the bottom of the fifth off
Celeste Sermeno's ground ball to short.
A two-run homer from Cottey College's Aryana Palencia headlined the four-run fourth inning for the opposition.
The Comets would score again in the sixth inning as Elizabeth Thomas doubled deep down the left field line; scoring Alyssa Montoya, rounding out the scoring for game one.

Alexis Hassler (5-5) finished the game with 4 strikeouts and a 2.70 earn run average.
Game 2:
The Owls' bats came alive in the second game.

Celeste Sermeno tripled to right scoring
Mia Santos on the batted ball.
In the fifth inning, three runs crossed the plate for the Owls. WWU
Katie Gaus tripled to deep center scoring
Lindy Wilson. Gaus scored on
Sydney Wilbeck's ground ball, and
Mia Santos scored on
Devyn Burton's ground out to second, rounding out the scoring in the fifth inning for the Owls.
Cottey College's Elizabeth Thomas singled down the right field line scoring Alyssa Montoya in the seventh inning.
WWU's
Kalee Wall (2-3) pitched the entire game.
