COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team picked up a 3-2 win over Williams Baptist University in the opening round of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship Wednesday afternoon.
The Owls will now face the winner of the one-seeded Columbia and eight-seeded Stephens game at 12 p.m. on Thursday.

The Owls entered the game as the away team. They took an early 1-0 in the top of the first on
Mallory Feldewerth's RBI double to deep left field, scoring
Celeste Sermeno.
The team took a 2-0 in the second as Sermeno drove in
Devyn Burton on a RBI single through the hole at shortstop.
The Owls extended their lead to three runs in the sixth inning as
Jaden Swift hit a RBI single to short to plate
Mia Santos.
WBU looked to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. The scored their first run of the game on a RBI ground out. They added a second run to the board on a RBI double, but a ground out ended the game with a 3-2 Owls' win.
The Owls recorded eight hits with all but one in the lineup picking one up.
Alexis Hassler (12-9) pitched the complete game win. She threw two strikeouts while allowing just two earned runs through 7.0 innings.
