COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team split their two matches on day two of the Hampton Inn Classic hosted by Columbia College. The Owls swept Culver-Stockton College to start the day, 3-0. In the fourth and final match of the classic, the Owls fell to No. 11 Central Methodist University. The Owls are now 3-2 on the season.
Reanna Dodge was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Owls next play Culver-Stockton again on Tuesday, August 31, at 7 p.m. at home.

The Owls jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start the match with two kills from
Hannah Kuehl, a kill from
Reanna Dodge and a block from Kuehl and
Tess Schannuth. CSC inched their way back in, and the two teams remained close. The Owls closed out the set with a 10-1 run to grab a 25-18 win.
CSC grabbed an early lead in set two, but the Owls went up by two following a 4-0 run with kills from Dodge and Phillips and a block from Dodge and Phillips. The Owls maintained their lead, and a 5-1 run closed out the set with a 25-18 win.
Set three was back-and-forth, and CSC took up a two-point lead towards the end of the set, forcing the Owls to call a timeout. 20-18. The Owls came out of the timeout and responded with a 4-0 run to take a 22-20 lead. CSC took a one-point lead to take the match to set point, but a kill from Kuehl evened the score at 24 all. The Owls grabbed the next two points off CSC attack errors to win the match, 26-24.

A 7-1 run gave the Owls a three-point lead halfway through the set, 17-14. A block by Dodge and a CMU attack error put the Owls up by four, 20-16. A 5-0 run from CMU evened the score at 22-22, but a kill from Kuehl and a block from Kuehl and Schannuth brought the Owls to set point, 24-22.
Lanie Lowry's kill ended the set with a 25-23 win.
The two teams were neck-and-neck through the first half of set two, but a 10-1 CMU run gave them the 25-15 win.
CMU jumped out to a 7-3 lead in set three, but the Owls used a 4-0 run with two blocks from Phillips and Dodge and two kills from
Emily Greif and Dodge to close the gap to one, 11-10. CMU held on to the lead and took a five-point lead following a 4-0 run late in the game, 20-15. CMU closed out the set with a 3-0 run to take a 2-1 lead, 25-19.
A kill from Phillips and solo blocks from Phillips and
Riley Alton gave the Owls a 3-2 lead, and the two teams were neck-and-neck once again. CMU found a 5-0 run to go up 21-15, and they closed out the match with a 4-1 run to win 25-18.
