BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The William Woods University volleyball team dominated day two of the Baker Invitational with two sweeps over Graceland and Haskell Indian Nations. The Owls improve to 10-4 on the season.
The Owls host Lincoln College next on Friday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m.

After a close beginning to the match, GU took up a five-point lead following a 4-0 run, 13-7. The Owls struck a 5-0 run to even the score, 14-14. The set remained close until two GU errors, an ace from
Lauren Hiestand and a block from
Kassidy Phillips gave the Owls a 4-0 run to win the set, 25-21.
The Owls came out and completely dominated set two, allowing GU to score just one point themselves. The Owls committed five errors, giving GU their other five points of the set. The Owls served up six aces in the set.
Set three was close throughout the first part, but the Owls put together a 5-0 run to take up a four-point lead, 20-16. The Owls finished out the set with a 4-1 run to win the match ,25-19.

The Owls started with a 14-2 run, and after allowing Haskell to score two more points, the team finished out the set with a 10-0 run.
Haskell held a 5-4 lead following three WWU errors in set two, but the Owls pulled together and pushed a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead. The Owls closed out the set with a 6-1 run to win 25-15.
The Owls started set three with an 8-0 run with
Alli Gueck serving up three aces. Haskell scored two, but the Owls responded with a 7-0 run to go up 16-2. The Owls ended the set with a 25-8 win.
