Gueck Breaks Aces Game Day Record as Volleyball Dominates Harris-Stowe

FULTON, Mo. – Senior Alli Gueck broke the William Woods game day record for service aces as the volleyball team grabbed a dominating 3-0 win over Harris-Stowe State University for their first conference win. The team moves to 12-7 overall with a 1-1 conference record.
 
The Owls won 25-8, 25-10, 25-15.
 
Next up for the Owls is a home match versus Lyon College on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m.

Game Highlights
Hannah Kuehl slammed down four kills to help the Owls to a 6-2 start to the match. After an attack error, the Owls added a 5-0 run with two aces from Kuehl to take an 11-3 lead. The Owls closed out the set with an 8-0 run with five kills and two aces from Blair Busenbark to win 25-8.
 
Reanna Dodge led off set two with two kills, and an ace from Tori Rosemann closed out the Owls' 6-1 start. HSSU brought the set within four after three Owls' errors, 10-6. The Owls answered with a 12-0 run including six aces from Alli Gueck, giving them a 22-6 lead. The set concluded with a HSSU attack error, 25-10.
 
Gueck hit back-to-back aces early in set three to break the game day record and give the Owls an 8-3 lead. A block from Kassidy Phillips and Lauren Adams gave the Owls an 11-4 lead. HSSU closed the gap to five points following three Owls' errors, 15-10, but the Owls closed out the match with a 4-0 run finishing with a kill from Kuehl.
