FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team opened the 2022 year with a dominating win over Missouri Valley College to break the program's consecutive home game winning streak. The powerful 94-69 win brought the Owls' consecutive wins in Anderson Arena to nine, breaking the previously held record from 2015-16.
Darius Yohe posted a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds while
Makenzie Fessler scored a floor-high 27 points.
The Owls are now focused on conference as they return to AMC play on Thursday, Jan. 6, at Harris-Stowe State University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Game Highlights
Makenzie Fessler scored the first points of the game. The Owls held the lead, but the two teams remained close with MVC evening the score twice. MVC managed to take the lead with a fast break layup, 16-14.
A three from
Nathan Schwartze cut the game to one with 11:48 on the clock, and Fessler hit back-to-back jumpers in the paint to put the Owls back up by three with 10:50 to play, 21-18.
The Owls pushed an 11-2 run after MVC evened the score to take up a nine-point lead with 5:18 on the clock, 35-26.
A three from
Andrew Nett gave the Owls their first double-digit lead, and a three from
Mike Robinson with 3:53 to play put the Owls up 41-29. MVC cut the game to single digits, but
Spencer Yoggerst ended the half with a jumper to send the Owls into halftime up by 10, 47-37.
The Owls sparked a 27-5 run through the first eight minutes of second half play to take up an impressive 32-point lead, 74-42.
Darius Yohe put up 12 points in the run while Fessler added seven.
A three from Nett gave the Owls a 34-point lead, their largest of the game, with 7:03 to play, 86-52.
The Owls maintained a 25+ point lead throughout the rest of the game, finishing with a 94-69 win.
