Balducci Scores Twice, Owls Fall to No. 13 Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sydney Balducci of the William Woods University women's soccer team scored twice in this evening's loss to No. 13 Columbia College. The team moves to 5-8-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
 
Six minutes into the first period, Sydney Balducci scored her seventh goal of the season to take the lead of the game for the Owls, 1-0.
 
However, a few minutes after that, Columbia answered by finding the back of the net twice to grab the lead for the first time on the evening, 2-1.
 
Balducci netted her second goal of the night assisted by Mackenzie Boyle and Cindy Gonzalez to tie the game once again, 2-2.
 
With the clock hitting the 33rd minute mark, Columbia scored one more to go into halftime with a 3-2 lead against the Owls.
 
In the second period, the Owls had two more opportunities to found the back of the net but were unable to finalize it. Columbia scored two more to take a 5-2 win over the Owls.
 
Michyla Handley (5-3-1) played 90 minutes in between posts and was credited with the loss on goal. She made four stops.
 
Columbia outshot the Owls, 18-4.
 
Next for the Owls is a home game versus Lyon on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
