FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team defeated Clarke University Friday evening for their seventh sweep of the season. The Owls improve to 12-14 on the season with one non-conference match remaining.
The Owls won 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.
The Owls conclude their non-conference portion of their schedule on Saturday, Oct. 22, with a 12:30 p.m. match versus Mount Mercy University.

How It Happened
Clarke took the lead in set one, but a 4-0 Owls' run with four kills put the team ahead by four, 14-10. A 3-0 run with a kill from
Paige Lamm and a kill and block from
Rhakala Blackmon brought the Owls to set point, and a kill from
Ryleigh McBurney ended the set two points later, 25-20.
Set two remained close, but just over midway through, the Owls put together a 4-1 run with two kills from
Lauren Adams, an ace from McBurney and a block from Lamm and Adams to take a 20-16 lead. The Owls closed out the match with a 5-0 run, ending with a block by Blackmon and Lamm, 25-17.
Once again the two teams played even throughout the start of set three. An ace from
Ally Konarzewski put the Owls up by four, 20-16, and a 4-1 run brought the Owls to match point, 24-18. The Owls won it on a Clarke attack that went out of bounds, 25-20.
