FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team came back from a 2-0 deficit to even the match Saturday afternoon, but dropped the tiebreaker set to lose 3-2 to Mount Mercy University.
The set scores were 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 17-25, 15-10.
The Owls return to AMC play with a home match versus Williams Baptist University on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. The game will serve as their "Dig Pink" game.

How It Happened
MMU pulled ahead in set one following a 7-1 run towards the end of the set to take a 21-15 lead. The Owls were unable to recover, 25-18.
MMU jumped to a 10-5 lead in set two. Following a 4-1 Owls' run filled with MMU errors, the Owls closed the gap to three, 20-17, but MMU finished out the set with a 25-21 win.
A 5-1 Owls' run midway through set three gave the team a one-point lead, 17-16. Back-to-back kills from
Ella Lewis put the Owls up 23-22. Kills from
Kassidy Phillips and
Lanie Lowry ended the set with a 25-23 win, keeping the Owls alive.
The Owls lit a fuse in set four, sparking a 10-1 run early on to take a 12-5 lead. A 7-1 run followed to put the Owls up 19-9, and a kill from Lewis evened the match at 2-2 with the Owls' 25-17 win.
A 7-0 MMU run in set five put the Owls down 12-6, and the team was unable to recover.
