Owls Grab Win at Waldorf Classic

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The William Woods University men's basketball team snapped their four-game losing streak with an 88-74 win over Waldorf University (Iowa) at the Waldorf Cobblestone Inn & Suites Classic. The Owls improve to 2-4 on the season.

By The Numbers
48 – The Owls outscored WU 48-39 in the second half to pull out the win.
24 – Nathan Schwartze put up 24 points. He went 7-for-16 from the field with three threes and 7-for-7 from the foul line. He scored 17 in the second half.

How It Happened
The Owls took a five-point lead not even a minute into the game, and an 8-0 run over a three-minute span put the Owls up by 10 five minutes in, 13-3.
 
WU answered with a 11-0 run over the next three minutes to take a one-point lead, 14-13.
 
A layup from Fred Robinson put the Owls back on top, and a 6-0 run from Grant Peters gave the Owls a seven-point lead with 7:24 to play, 28-21.
 
With three minutes to play, WU evened the score, but the Owls closed out the half with a 5-0 run to hold a 40-35 lead heading into halftime.
 
The Owls pushed a 16-point lead just four minutes into the second half with a 16-3 run, 56-40.
 
WU cut the game to single digits with 11:10 to play and managed to bring the game within three points with 6:16 on the clock, 69-66.
 
A clutch three from Spencer Yoggerst kicked off a 9-0 run to put the Owls up by 13 with 1:24 to play, 85-72. By then WU resorted to fouling, and the Owls closed out the game with an 88-74 win.
