Starr Qualifies For NAIA Nationals, Owls Place Third at AMC Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Jenson Starr qualified for the NAIA National Championships following his fifth place finish at the 2022 American Midwest Conference Championships.  The William Woods University men’s cross country team placed third out of six with 49 points. 

The Owls finished with three top 10 finishes, and the top five Owls’ runners finished in the top 15 overall. 

The team’s total time was 2:16:15.04, and they averaged a 27:15.01 8K time.

Jenson Starr placed fifth overall out of 48 runners to be named AMC Newcomer of the Year. He led the way for the Owls and earned an automatic bid with his 26:35.46 time.

Landon Dunlap came in eighth overall with a 27:04.05 time, earning a spot on the All-AMC Team.

Orion Parker grabbed the final spot on the All-AMC Team as he placed 10th with a 27:16.26 time.

Ian Schwierjohn recorded a new PR with his 11th place, 27:18.02 time. He cut almost six seconds on his previous best.

Dustin Russell placed 15th with a 28:01.25 time to round out the Owls’ team score.

Rashad Meaders and Freddy Zheng closed out the Owls team with a 25th place (31:20.40) and 27th place (32:50.97) finish, respectively.
