PITTSBURG, Kan. – (
Results) The William Woods University track and field teams kicked off the 2022-23 indoor season with three NAIA "B" Standards and a new WWU record at the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Saturday afternoon.
Coming off her fifth-place finish at indoor nationals last season,
Katie French was just .1-meter shy of the "A" Standard in the shot put. She also hit the NAIA "B" Standard in the weight throw.
Alicia Engelbrecht kicked off the season with a dominating PR and a ticket to nationals with her NAIA "B" Standard in the 5,000-meter run. This will be her first time going to the NAIA National Championship for the indoor season.
Nia Hawkins also had quite the day, breaking her previously held record in the long jump. She jumped .1-meter more than her previous PR, setting the new record at 5.27-meters.
The Owls had eight total compete on the day with two being males.
