Strong Fourth Quarter Helps Owls with Road Win

CONWAY, Ar. – The William Woods University women's basketball team defeated Central Baptist this evening, 55-48. The Owls improve to 9-16 overall and 6-9 in AMC play.
 
The Owls will complete their three-road game stretch at RV Lyon College on Saturday, Feb. 12. at 1 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
17 – Natalie Thomas led the floor with 17 points with five three-pointers.
12 – Katie Keilholz went 4-for-10 from the field and went 4-for-9 from the three-point line for 12 points.
10 – Sydney Booker recorded 10 points while going 5-8 from the field.
8 – Kiyanna Rodgers scored eight points. Sidney Booker pulled down eight rebounds.
7 – Kasey Hazell pulled down seven boards.
 
Game Highlights
CBC hit a jumper to start the game but Sydney Booker responded with another jumper from Natalie Thomas. A three from Katie Keilholz grabbed the lead for the Owls for the first time in the game with 6:20 left, 7-5. The Owls held CBC scoreless within the next three minutes, but CBC hit a three to grab the lead once again. The lead bounced back-and-forth in the final minutes and the first period ended up tied 12-12.
 
A layup from Kasey Hazell and a three from Jheda Kennedy gave the Owls a 17-15 lead to start the second period. CBC hit a layup and made a free throw to grab the lead once again, 26-22, with 1:25 left. With two seconds left, Natalie Thomas scored a three for the Owls. The Owls went into halftime trailing by three, 28-25.
 
The Owls began the third quarter with a five-point lead following a 5-0 run, 33-28. CBC ignited a 12-0 run holding the Owls scoreless in the remainder of the period leading the game, 40-33.
 
Back-to-back field goals from Sydney Booker helped the Owls trail by three. Katie Heilholz hit a three to grab the lead once again 44-42 with 5:29 left in the game. CBC scored a jumper and a layup to take the lead but Natalie Thomas responded with three three-pointers to help the Owls with a 55-48 win.
