FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team defeated Hannibal-LaGrange this afternoon closing regular season with a 61-39 win. The Owls concluded the season with a 17-13 overall record, 11-5 in conference play and an impressive 11-2 at home.
The team will be going into the AMC Championships as the third and highest seed in program history.
As the higher seed, the Owls will be hosting University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.

Makenzie Fessler led the floor with 11 rebounds with eight coming from the defensive end.

Karter Koenig led the floor with 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 FT).

Nathan Schwartze added nine points going 4-for-7 from the field.

Jared Crutcher recorded eight points and pulled down eight boards.

Darius Yohe scored six points while going 3-for-4 from the field. Koenig also recorded six rebounds.
Game Highlights
The Owls started with a bucket from
Andrew Nett and a three from
Mike Robinson to 5-point lead with 17:30 left. Back-to-back layups from
Darius Yohe and
Jared Crutcher, then a three from
Dylan Pitt gave the Owls a 14-3 lead over the trojans with 10:59 left.
The trojans scored a field goal but Yohe scored two buckets in a row to maintain the lead, 18-5. Jumpers from
Nathan Schwartze and
Makenzie Fessler gave the Owls the highest lead of the game so far by 20 points, 30-10.
The trojans scored the final seven points of the first half with a three-pointer and a jumper. The Owls went into halftime leading, 32-17.
A layup from Fessler assisted by
Spencer Yoggerst followed by two good free-throws from also Yoggerst increased the Owls, 36-19.
Seven points in a row to
Karter Koenig gave the Owls a 47-25 lead with 11:16 left in the game. With 8:27 left, the Owls had the largest lead of the game by 30, 56-26.
The trojans fired up a 13-5 run to end the game but the Owls concluded their regular season with a 61-39 win over Hannibal-LaGrange.
