Women's Basketball Falls to UHSP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team fell to University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy this evening 56-42. The loss drops the Owls to 8-16 overall and 5-9 in conference play.
 
The Owls will travel next to Conway, Ar. to face off against Central Baptist on Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
11 – Katie Keilholz led the team with 11 points. 
10 – Sydney Booker pulled down a floor-high of 10 rebounds. She was one point away from posting a double-double with nine points.
3 – Kiyana Rodgers grabbed three steals. Kasey Hazell, Amaya Keeling and Booker each dished in three assists.
 
Game Highlights
UHSP started off the game with a bucket but Sydney Booker hit a layup right back to tie the game 2-2 in the beginning of the first period. A layup by Kiyanna Rodgers cut the deficit to four points, but UHSP scored the next four points to extend their lead to eight. Jheda Kennedy scored the final three points, and the Owls ended the first quarter trailing 14-9.
 
UHSP started the second period with a 15-5 run until Katie Keilholz hit a three to cut the deficit to 12-point with 3:33 left. A jumper by Kasey Hazell assisted by Amaya Keeling ended the first half with the UHSP lead, 31-19. 
 
Back-to-back layups from Taneigh Boyd helped the Owls in the final three minutes as they trailed by nine. UHSP responded with two good free-throws but Booker hit a layup from Boyd. UHSP scored the final field goal of the period. The Owls outscored UHSP, 16-15.
 
Boyd scored the first bucket of the fourth quarter with 7:38 left, but UHSP answered with a layup back to increase their lead to 48-37. The game remained scoreless within the next three minutes until UHSP hit one free-throw and a three. Booker scored the final five points for the Owls of the game ending with a 14-point loss, 56-42.
