French Places Fifth in Shot Put, Named All-American

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Katie French from the William Woods University track and field team was named All-American at the 2022 NAIA Indoor National Championships Saturday morning following her fifth-place finish in the shot put.

"It was a solid day for Katie in the shot put earning All-American honors with 5th place," said Head Coach Dan Schwab. "She competed very hard and should be proud of her performance."
 
For the second year in a row, French finished in the top eight earning All-American honors.
 
Her first throw was a 12.60-meter. Then, she threw 12.53-meter. In her third and final throw, French tossed a 13.66-meter qualifying her to the finals which was also her best mark of the day that earned her All-American honors.
 
In the finals, she first threw 13.28-meter, followed by a 13.56-meter toss, and her final throw of the competition hit the 13.46-meter mark.
