GULF SHORES, Ala. – The William Woods University softball team started the Gulf Coast Invitational with a win against Louisiana Christian University, 7-1. The Owls improve to 5-6 on the season.
"We have had a long few days of travel so it was great to come out scoring early in the game," stated Head Coach
Tracy Gastineau, "We had good production from a number of players throughout the lineup."
- Celeste Sermeno went 4 for 4. She scored two runs and had one RBI.
- Devyn Burton went 4 for 4. She scored one run and had three RBIs.
- Taylor Bell went 2 for 3. She recorded three RBIs.
- Kristen Mogan scored one run.
- Sarah Randermann (4-2) was credited with the win on the mound. She pitched 7.0 innings, struck out 10 and had no earned runs.
- The Owls outhit LCU, 11-2.
The Owls return to action tomorrow at the Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulf Shores, Alabama against the No. 20 Morningside College (Iowa) at 11:15 a.m. and then against Faulkner University (Ala.) at 1:30 p.m.
