COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team put together seven runs in two innings to top Missouri Baptist University 9-3 in their second game of the AMC Championship.
UPDATE: The Owls will play Missouri Baptist at 1 p.m. at Battle High School for an elimination game. If they win, they move to the championship game on Friday. If they lose, they will turn around and face Missouri Baptist again at 5 p.m. to eliminate a team. If the Columbia vs. Hannibal-LaGrange game does not need their "if necessary" game, the Owls will play theirs at 3 p.m. instead.
The Owls improve to 22-21 on the season.

MBU plated two runs in the first inning on a two-out two-run home run over center field.
In the top of the third,
Emma Taylor hit a two out double to center field to start a rally. She moved to third on Mia Santo's single over the left fielder's head, and Santos stole second to have two runners in scoring position. With two outs on a 2-2 count,
Celeste Sermeno knocked a three-run homer over the left field fence, clearing the bases and putting the Owls in the lead, 3-2.
In the fourth, the Owls put together four runs.
Jessica Keilholz scored on
Annika Ramon's sacrifice fly, and
Emma Taylor followed with a base clearing double. Santos continued the run with a RBI single down the left field line to bring Taylor home, giving the Owls a 7-2 lead.
The Owls added two more runs in the sixth on a Sermeno two RBI double, scoring Santos and Taylor.
MBU added one in the sixth on a RBI double, bringing the score to 9-3.
