Results] The William Woods University women's track and field team finished runner-up at the 2022 American Midwest Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Senior
Katie French was named the Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year and became the first WWU woman to win the shot put, hammer and discus at the AMC Championships.
The Owls finished day two with four first place finishes and 16 top-five finishes. Throughout the two day meet, they grabbed seven first place finishes and 23 top-five finishes.
The Owls earned 189 points. Columbia College won the meet with 257 points.
All-Conference
The Owls had 27 make All-Conference. All-AMC honors are awarded based on the finish at the conference championship. First place earns First Team All-AMC, second place earns Second Team All-AMC and third place earns Third Team All-AMC.
Katie French is the first WWU woman to win the shot put, hammer

Emma Clifford is the first outdoor track woman in program history to receive All-AMC honors in all three relays.
- Katie French was named First Team All-AMC in the discus, shot put and hammer.
- Nia Hawkins was named First Team All-AMC in the long jump and Third Team in the triple jump.
- Natalie Thomas earned First Team honors in the javelin.
- Ellie Dimond earned First Team honors in the 1500-meter run. She also earned Second Team honors in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Third Team honors in the 400-meter hurdles.
- Alicia Engelbrecht earned First Team honors in the 10,000-meter run and Second Team honors in the 5000-meter run.
- Harley Nale earned Second Team honors in the 800-meter and 1500-meter run and Third Team honors in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
- Faith Gerling earned Third Team honors in the 5000-meter run.
- The 4x100-meter relay team (Camille Schroeder, Emma Clifford, Kristan Wilson, Nia Hawkins), the 4x400-meter relay team (Kristan Wilson, Harley Nale, Emma Clifford, Nia Hawkins) and the 4x800-meter relay team (Harley Nale, Emma Clifford, Faith Gerling and Ellie Dimond) each earned Third Team honors.
Throws
Katie French grabbed wins in the discus and the shot put. She threw a 39.73-meter discus and a 13.49-meter shot put.
Susan Moman also threw both events. She placed seventh in the discus (31.17) and PR'd in the shot put with her ninth place, 9.49-meter throw.
Jumps
Nia Hawkins shattered the WWU record as she won the long jump with her 5.59-meter jump.
Camille Schroeder also jumped, placing ninth.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Ellie Dimond placed third with a 1:10.07.
Kristan Wilson placed sixth with a new PR of 1:17.11.
Distance
Ellie Dimond won the 1500-meter run with a 5:04.30 time.
Harley Nale finished just after her, placing second with a 5:05.43 time. They each also ran the 3000-meter steeplechase where Dimond placed second (11:20.77) and Nale placed third with her 11:30.28 PR time, moving into second in the WWU record book.
Nale also placed second in the 800-meter run with a 2:27.25 time.
Emma Clifford set a new PR with her 2:39.48 time (11
th).
The Owls took three of the top four finishes in the 5000-meter run.
Alicia Engelbrecht placed second with a 19:22.74 time.
Faith Gerling placed third with a 19:44.41, and
Mary Grover rounded out the top four with a 20:28.20 time.
Sprints
After qualifying for the finals yesterday,
Nia Hawkins placed fifth in the 100-meter dash finals with a 12.98 time.
Kristan Wilson and
Emma Clifford both set new PRs in the 400-meter dash. Wilson placed fourth with a 1:02.90, and Clifford placed seventh with a 1:05.76.
In the 200-meter dash,
Nia Hawkins hit a new PR of 27.82 with her sixth-place finish.
Kristan Wilson placed eighth with a 30.60 finish.
Relays
The 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team each placed third. The 4x100, comprised of
