FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team took a 1-0 win over Evangel University Monday evening. The team improves to 1-1-1 on the season.
Evangel came out aggressive on the first period as they had 12 shots on goal but
Iker Gonzalez stopped every single one of them. The game went into halftime tied 0-0.
The lone goal of the game came in the 73
rd minute when
Florian Senst passed the ball to
Lubos Polacko who found the back of the net and scored the only goal of the night, giving the Owls the victory.
Iker Gonzalez grabbed the win in goal. He played 90 minutes in between posts and tied the WWU game day record with 17 stops.
Evangel outshot the Owls, 17-4.
The Owls travel to Oakland City University on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
