FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team fell short to Culver-Stockton 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The team moves to 1-3-2 on the season.
CSC scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead with 18 minutes clock.
The Owls had a few opportunities to find the back of the net during the first period but they were all unsuccessful. The Owls went into halftime trailing C-SC, 1-0.
Guillermo Fernandez tapped in the first goal for the Owls off
Florian Senst's free kick with the clock hitting the 61
st minute mark to tie the game 1-1.
A corner kick from Nicolas Fernandez who passed to Omar Murilo scored their second goal of the day on a header to take the lead for the first time today, 2-1.
However, C-SC answered with two more goals to take the 3-2 win.
Iker (1-1-1) took the loss on goal. He played 90 minutes in between posts and stopped six shots.
C-SC outshot the Owls, 17-14.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 versus Iowa Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m. at home.
