FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team dominates University of Saint Mary (Kan.) in a 4-0 shutout Wednesday evening. The Owls improve to 2-4-1 on the season.
With 13 minutes in the clock, the Owls take the lead of the game with a goal from
Sydney Balducci assisted by
Sam Poehlmann.
Cindy Gonzalez passed the ball to
Mackenzie Boyle who found the back of the net with 22:06.
Following a foul on the box,
Lauren Helmert extended the lead for the Owls on a penalty kick, 3-0.
The Owls went into halftime with a 3-0 lead over University of Saint Mary.
Boyle scored her second goal of the day off a corner kick from Helmert to take a 4-0 for the Owls.
Michyla Handley was credited with the win on the goal. She played during all 90 minutes of regulation in between posts and stopped six shots with four coming from the second period.
The Owls outshot USM, 22-9.
The Owls return to action at home on Saturday, Sept. 17 as they host Iowa Wesleyan University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
