COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's cross country team finished in ninth place at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by University of Missouri. Competing against the Owls in the 8k race were 13 teams including NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA.
The Owls scored a total of 252 points. NCAA Division II schools Washburn won the race and Emporia State placed second.
Landon Dunlap,
Jenson Starr,
Ian Schwierjohn,
Dustin Russell, and
Rashad Meaders improved their personal records.
Dunlap crossed the finish line first for the Owls placing 19
th with a time of 25:42.5 (PR).
Coming up next for the Owls and only ten seconds slower than Dunlap was Starr. He placed 26
th with a time of 25:52.1 (PR).
Orion Parker placed 82
nd with a time of 27:17.0.
Schwierjohn crossed the finish line seven seconds after Parker to grab the 86
th place with a time of 27:24.9 (PR).
Russell came in fourteen seconds after Schwierjohn. He finished 90
th with a personal record of 27:38.5.
Meaders placed in the 136
th spot with a personal record of 30:24.5.
The Owls travel next to Ankeny, Iowa to compete at the NAIA Midwest Showdown on Saturday, Oct. 22. The 8k race will take place at the DMACC Cross Country Course and is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m.
