Owls Ends Regular Season with Win at Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The William Woods University men's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 80-69 win over Lyon College Saturday afternoon.
 
The Owls conclude the regular season with an 14-12 overall record, 8-8 in conference play.
 


The Owls enter the American Midwest Conference Championship as the five-seed. They will face four-seeded Williams Baptist University on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
 
 

41 – Lyon's Sando Hill put up 41 points (12-20 FG, 7-11 3FG, 10-13 FT).
21 – Darius Yohe went a perfect 10-for-10 from the field for 21 points. 17 of his points came in the second half.
19 – Fred Robinson added 19 points to the win.
17 – The Owls put together a 17-5 run over a five-minute span to take up an 18-point lead late in the second half.
12 – Jared Crutcher and Nathan Schwartze each scored 12. Crutcher went 6-7 from the field.
8 – Jared Crutcher pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
4 – Darius Yohe and Jared Crutcher each recorded four blocks, and Yohe led the Owls with four assists.
 
 

Lyon took an early lead and maintained possession of it until five minutes in. An 8-0 Owls' run put the team up by three with 13:34 on the clock, 12-9.
 
Five points from Fred Robinson and two free throws from Nathan Schwartze gave the Owls a nine-point lead just over halfway through the first, 21-12. Lyon chipped away, and with 4:18 on the clock, the Owls held just a two-point lead, 27-25.
 
The Owls pushed their lead back to seven, and Lyon scored the final points of the half to send the Owls into halftime with a five-point lead, 37-32.
 
The Owls put together a 17-5 run over a five-minute span to take up an 18-point lead with 1:32 to play, 80-62.
 
Lyon scored the final seven points of the game, ending with an 80-67 win.
