COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team went 1-3 on the weekend against Briar Cliff University and Graceland University. After dropping both games on day one, the Owls opened up Sunday with an extra inning walkoff to defeat Graceland. They closed out the weekend with an eight inning loss to Briar Cliff.

The Owls travel to RV Ottawa University (Kan.) for a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
Briar Cliff def. William Woods, 5-0
- The Owls were held to a no-hitter while Briar Cliff put up seven hits.
- BCU put up three runs in the second, one in the third and one in the seventh.
- Pitching: Sarah Randermann (0-3) pitched the complete game and struck out five.
Graceland def. William Woods, 2-0
William Woods def. Graceland, 3-2 (8 innings)
- The Owls used an Iliana Manzano walkoff RBI single to left to win in the bottom of the eighth.
- Iliana Manzano kicked off the scoring with a homer in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
- Taylor Bell brought home the second run with as she beat out the bunt to score Crystal Ruden.
- Graceland scored their two runs on a homerun in the second and a RBI double in the fifth.
- Iliana Manzano went 3-4 from the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
- Crystal Ruden went 2-4 from the plate with two runs scored including the game-winning run.
- The Owls outhit GU 8-5.
- Pitching: Sarah Randermann (1-3) pitched the complete game and grabbed her first win of the season on the mound. She struck out seven.
Briar Cliff def. William Woods, 9-6 (8 innings)
- After tying up the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Owls allowed three runs to score in the top of the eighth.
- Mia Santos crushed a three-run homerun over the centerfield fence to put the Owls up 5-4 in the sixth inning.
- Right before Santos' home run, Arianna Donovan hit a RBI double to score Taylor Bell.
- A Taylor Bell RBI single to right field in the bottom of the seventh scored Crystal Ruden for the game-tying run.
- All three BCU runs scored in the eighth inning were unearned.
- Crystal Ruden went 2-2 from the plate with one run scored.
- Mia Santos went 2-4 from the plate with a homerun, a double, a run scored and three RBI.
- Pitching: Jessica Keilholz pitched 6.1 innings, faced 30 batters and struck out two. Sarah Randermann (1-4) came in as relief and pitched the remaining 1.2 innings.
