Owls Sweep Stephens to Open AMC Play

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team opened conference play with a sweep over Stephens College. The Owls finished with a 5-4 game one win and a 5-1 game two win. They move to 8-17 on the season and begin conference with a 2-0 record.
 
 


The Owls host Lyon College for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25, starting at 1 p.m.
 
 

  • The Owls scored three in the second – Jaden Swift was walked in and Iliana Manzano hit a two-RBI single. 
  • Arianna Donovan hit a two-run homer in the third.
  • Stephens scored one in the first and three in the fifth.
  • The Owls recorded eight hits with six players getting a hit.
  • Crystal Ruden and Jaden Swift each recorded two hits.
  • Pitching: Sarah Randermann (5-8) pitched the complete game win. She struck out six while allowing just three hits.
 
 
  • Stephens scored their one run on a RBI triple in the third.
  • The Owls' two runs in the third were on a walk and a hit by pitch.
  • Crystal Ruden scored on Iliana Manzano's sacrifice fly in the fourth to put the Owls up 3-1.
  • The Owls scored two more in the fifth on RBI singles from Sarah Randermann and Taylor Bell.
  • The Owls posted 10 hits with six players recording at least one hit.
  • Jessica Keilholz went 3-4 from the plate.
  • Arianna Donovan and Iliana Manzano each recorded two hits with one being a double.
  • Pitching: Jessica Keilholz (3-8) pitched the complete game win. She struck out five while allowing just four hits and no earned runs.
