INDIANAPOLIS - William Woods University's
Hailey Triske and
Trista Rauma started their season with top-four finishes in the 197-player women's division at the Western Open on Saturday and Sunday at Royal Pin Western. Triske took third with 1,288 total pins (214.67 average game score) over six games, and Rauma finished fourth with 1,282 (213.67 average).
Led by the Owls mentioned above, William Woods placed 13th out of 23 teams with 8,446 total pins between six traditional scoring games Saturday and 16 Baker games Sunday. WWU tallied 5,687 pins (947.83 average game score) in traditional scoring contests and 2,759 (197.07 average game score) in Baker matches.
Following Triske and Rauma, the Owls'
Maddie San Soucie finished 40th with 1,135 total pins (189.17 average game score), Bethany Johnson 66th with 1,000 (166.67 average) and
Caitlyn Rawson 69th with 982 (163.67 average).
Trine University topped the team leaderboard with 9,312 total pins (6,175 traditional pins, 3,137 Baker pins), and Rochester University's Sara Ritchie won the individual title with 1,336 total pins (222.67 average game score).
William Woods has over a month's break before its next competition, the McKendree Match Games, hosted by McKendree University from Nov. 23-24 at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Ill.
