HANNIBAL, Mo. - William Woods University placed second out of seven teams, and the Owls'
Jenson Starr made All-American Midwest Conference - one of three for WWU - with a runner-up finish out of 63 on the individual leaderboard in the program's final AMC Championships, which were hosted by Hannibal-LaGrange University Friday.
As a team, William Woods scored 40 points with a top-five time of 2:14:17.3 and a top-five average of 26:51.46 in the 8k race. The Owls were eight points behind conference champion Columbia College, which recorded a top-five time of 2:13:31.36 and a top-five average of 26:42.27.

Dan Schwab said. "It was a very competitive meet and very tight on points on the day. Just a very tight race from start to finish. Excited for Jenson & Ian as they continue on to NAIA Nationals on Nov. 22."
After running a school record 24:50.82, 7.58 seconds faster than the Cougars' Kalieb Redda in both teams' previous meet 13 days ago, Starr finished a spot behind CC's AMC champion Friday. Starr took second at 25:43.34, and Redda won by 10.8 seconds at 25:32.54.
Ian Schwierjohn joined Starr in the top five and All-AMC team for WWU, finishing fifth at 26:29.72. The gap between fifth and sixth was significant, with Schwierjohn 29.3 seconds ahead of the sixth-place finisher, Missouri Baptist University's top runner, Grant Patten.
Rounding out the Owls' trio of All-AMC finishers - required a top-10 finish -
Kyle Hagemeyer posted WWU's best time among its three underclassmen running, taking 10th at 27:18.89.
William Woods' top two, Starr and Schwierjohn, compete in their final college competition, and it's the biggest of them all, the 69th Annual Men's Cross Country NAIA National Championships, hosted by Columbia at 11 a.m. Nov. 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
