Troy Oliver connection continued, leading to the second and third touchdowns in William Woods (0-3) history, this time coming in front of a packed and energized crowd for the program's first home game at North Campus Athletic Complex. Despite those scoring plays, the Owls fell 52-13 to St. Ambrose University (2-1) Saturday.
The Owls who took the field in front of an announced attendance of 2,317 fans, took the opening kickoff and marched down the field. WWU would convert three straight third downs capped off by a
Gabe Serri 16 yard scramble taking the Owls to the SAU 19 yard line. The Owls would get to the Fighting Bees 13 yard line and were forced to attempt a field goal, the attempt was blocked giving SAU possession and momentum.

The Fighting Bees would go on to scored 52 points unanswered and tallied their final seven with 7:11 left in the third quarter, the Owls ensured they gave their home crowd what they wanted.

Already making their mark in the WWU record book, Serri and Oliver added more, combining to score the Owls' first home touchdown. With 1:09 remaining in the third quarter, Serri completed a 4-yard pass to Oliver, who reached the end zone to make it 52-6 SAU.

Following that six-play, 79-yard scoring drive, Woods made it back-to-back touchdowns, capping a 12-play, 70-yard possession with a 10-yard lob from Serri to Oliver. Owls kicker
Justin Sharkey converted his extra-point attempt this time to finish the contest's scoring, as WWU dropped its momentous home opener, regardless of the result, by 39 points.

Not only did Serri and Oliver record the Owls' touchdowns, but they also accounted for most of their offense. Serri completed 23-of-55 passes for 384 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and Oliver had 14 receptions for 245 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, William Woods'
Austin Levias notched an interception for its lone forced turnover, and
Carleon Jones had a team-high eight tackles.

The Owls will travel down Westminster Avenue to face a crosstown opponent with the street's namesake, NCAA Division III Westminster College (1-1), at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium in Fulton.
