WWU Women’s T&F Medals in Six Events at Monmouth Midwest Invitational

MONMOUTH, Ill. - William Woods University's Rylie Bales (400-meter run) and Hailey Gerard (800 run) earned silver in track events, Esther (El) Reagan (pole vault) and De'Prisha Chatman (triple jump) received bronze in field events and the Owls' 4x200 (Madison Dixon, Heidi Baranauskas, Chatman and Bales) and 4x400 (Myra Baker, Bales, Emma Clifford and Gerard) relay teams were bronze medalists in the Monmouth Midwest Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division III Monmouth College Friday at Huff Athletic Center.

While earning silver, Gerard ran a personal record of 2:26.22 in the 800 run (previous PR: 2:50.91). Bales also PR'd with her silver-medal performance in the 400 run, reaching the finish line in 1:11.18 (previous PR: 1:11.76).

On the field side, Reagan cleared 2.75 meters (9 feet and ¼ inch) to take third, while Ashley Strode had a season-best 2.6m (8-6¼) to finish fifth in the pole vault, and Chatman went 9.72m (31-10¾) in the triple jump to pick up bronze.

A pair of William Woods relay teams were also bronze medalists, with its 4x200 squad of Dixon, Baranauskas, Chatman and Bales clocking in at 1:56.01 and 4x400 of Baker, Bales, Clifford and Gerard finishing in 4:34.73.

"Great meet!" William Woods track and field coach Anthony Stockton said. "Had great performances from Madison in the 60, hitting a pr and placing 5th, then place 4th in the 200. Myra won her heat in the 800!"

Chatman had a PR in the long jump at 4.63m (15-2¼) (previous PR: 4.55m [14-11¼]), and Dixon notched a PR in the 60-dash prelims, placing fifth at 8.19 (previous PR: 8.2).

William Woods is back indoors for its first two-day event this season, the Washburn Open, which NCAA Division II Washburn University will host next Friday and Saturday at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas.
